Should the law be changed to allow same-sex couples to marry?
Of the eligible Australians in the Northern Territory (NT) who expressed a view on this question, the majority indicated that the law should be changed to allow same-sex couples to marry, with 48,686 (60.6%) responding Yes and 31,690 (39.4%) responding No. Nearly 6 out of 10 eligible Australians in the NT (58.4%) expressed their view.

Participation
80,605 (58.4%) eligible Australians in the NT participated in the Australian Marriage Law Postal Survey.
Females were more likely to respond than males. In the NT, 60.7% (41,106) of eligible females and 56.0% (38,997) of eligible males responded to the survey.
In the NT, those aged 75 to 79 were the most likely to respond to the survey with 74.9% of eligible Australians in this age group participating. The participation rate was lowest in those aged 20 to 24 at 46.4%.
